Welcome to Kookoolan Farms!  We're glad you found us.  We are a small, grass-based, diversified farm in Yamhill, Oregon, founded October 2005.  You're welcome to browse our website to learn about our farming practices and all the wonderful food products we have available for you!

NEW! "Vin de Noix" or Green Walnut Wine. $28 for 375 ml. 17.5% alcohol.
Vin de Noix is an ancient, traditional French aperitif or dessert wine made by steeping the unripe walnut
fruits in a combination of red wine and brandy. Our version is made with red wine from Montinore Estates:
the grapes are certified organic and Demeter certified biodynamic. Christian Brothers brandy used at one
part per five parts of wine. Certified organic cane sugar, organic vanilla beans, orange peel, and cloves
are also added. All is macerated and allowed to steep and blend for about four months, then solids
strained out and the wine bottled. The result is smooth, mellow, aromatic, rich dark mahogany in color,
and unlike anything modern. We have it available in our farmstore starting today. Available daily at our
farmstore in Yamhill.
We have a few frozen Red Bourbon turkey hens, 8 to 10 pounds, ready for your table.  $7/pound, available daily at our farmstore in Yamhill.

2012 THANKSGIVING TURKEYS only 65 still available to reserve, don't delay!

For a full list and description of classes please visit our Classes and Events page

Our famous pasture-raised, hand-slaughtered chickens are end of season and all sold out.  Our season is May through October, for real, old-fashioned, grass-pasture-raised chickens.  In season our chickens are available at all New Seasons Markets locations, and at our farmstore in Yamhill, and at our booth at the Hillsdale Farmer's Market.  We do not butcher chickens at all November through April each year.  We are completely sold out.  Other than a few more frozen Red Bourbon turkey hens, we have no fresh or frozen poultry anything until May 2012.

FARMER'S MARKET.  The Hillsdale Farmer's Market is a wonderful year-round market, and is our only farmer's market.  We're end of season and will be absent from the market until about May 1, 2012.  The Hillsdale Market is a YEAR ROUND MARKET, don't let our absence keep you away from fresh vegetables, cheeses, breads and more all winter long!

FARMSTORE.  Open daily 8am to 6pm.  Please call for an appointment the FIRST TIME you come out to our farmstore, (503) 730-7535.  After that you are welcome to shop anytime.  We now carry TWO lines of cheesemaking supplies:  both the full line of "Mad Millie" cheesemaking supplies from New Zealand, and the full line of "New England Cheesemaking Supply Company" products.  Several new book titles available.  We believe this makes us the largest, most completely stocked home cheesemaking supply store anywhere in the northwest.
We carry year-round in our farmstore: fresh eggs from pastured hens $6/dozen; kombucha tea ($6/quart, or $4.50/16 oz -- all prices include a refundable $3 bottle deposit); and a full line of cheesemaking supplies, ingredients, cultures, rennets, and equipment -- "Everything you need to make any kind of cheese you can think of."  Our self-service honor farmstore is open 365 days a year, 8am to 6pm.  We ask that you call ahead to make an appointment for your first visit only, and after that you are free to shop at your pleasure.  Please call Farmer Chrissie at (503) 730-7535 to make an appointment.
